The Unpredictable Pink-Haired Woman.

Margaret Zhang is a well known name in fashion with titles like Elle Australia’s Digital Influencer of the Year. She began her career in fashion by blogging at the age of 16 with her then blog ‘Shine By Three.’ However, she has grown and branched out into different areas and established herself as a photographer, stylist, writer, creative director and consultant. Throughout her career so far she has had the opportunity to work with brands such as Gucci, Dior and Louis Vuitton as well as regularly attending shows like Balenciaga. So it is clear that Margaret Zhang is an inspirational individual who has made a name for herself.

While she was beginning her career in fashion she was studying at the University of Sydney where she obtained both a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws and has a history of ballet and piano. The subjects that she has studied seems to set the theme for a lot of her work: unpredictable.

Her blog and social media platforms primarily focuses on fashion and travel. Zhang’s work contains imagery of outfits, makeup, her fashion photography and her travels. She can be seen to be experimenting with different styles, colours and is constantly getting new inspiration.

I really enjoy her work, especially because of that word I used earlier, unpredictable. As you scroll through her beautiful and aesthetic Instagram you may not expect a blog full of strong, powerful and political thoughts. On her blog she writes about current issues such as feminism, the environment and having that fuck the system attitude ( which I am so passionate about).

The writing style that she uses on her blog I love and aspire to be like. There is a perfect balance between personal experience, opinion and fact. Her writing style is often very deep and almost poetic, she is a great storyteller through her words as well as imagery.

Across her blog and other social media platforms the imagery she uses is stunning, high quality, well edited and imaginative shots. Her instagram is the dream with the images seamlessly blending and having colours that blend together (including the amazing pink of her hair)!

While I like the work that is present on her blog, I can see that there is some room for improvement in the layout as it can appear quite cluttered and hard to navigate but on the other hand this cluttered look does look quite trendy and almost like magazine cutouts. In addition to this I would say that her blog isn’t super up to date but she does post on Instagram regularly, therefore I would say that she should start writing more on her Instagram.

I think that Margaret Zhang’s work is very inspirational and worth looking at.
