Shopping! Who doesn’t love it? I think we are all guilty of shopping for more than just necessity, but never really take the time to consider how or why we shop the way we do.
When I think about my own habits I can see that I have definitely fallen into the traps of what could be considered bad shopping habits. Before coming to university I found that I shopped pretty rarely because of where I lived, there is no fashion stores in a little countryside village! I had trips into Cardiff for each season or it was more of an occasion , but now that I live in Cardiff I’ve found that it’s far easier to partake in some cheeky shopping as you are constantly walking past tempting window displays.
However even though I am in a city centre, I still am victim to the online shopping craze as I may look in stores for inspiration and to become aware of current trends but will often then go online to find similar looks that may be cheaper (we all bargain hunt don’t we?) or more to my style.
While there pleasures in shopping I have also come across some pains. Personally I struggle shopping because of my size, I am averagely a size 4 but sometimes this may not fit my waist, or may be too short because they only offer the waist size for petite heights. In addition to this I find that if I wanted to shop in person there aren’t many stores currently that offer my style because I’m not too fussed on always following trends, but as I’ve said before I like J-Fashion and alternative styles.
It is really interesting taking a step back and actually considering your shopping habits and whether there is anything that you can change. My own personal goal is to cut down on shopping and consider what places I can shop that are more ethical and sustainable. Do you have any bad shopping habits you want to cut down?
